Welcome to Mather Hospital

Our goal is to promote an environment in which our patients receive the best care possible, and your visit is a valuable part of the care for your friend or loved one.

Of course, it is necessary for us to make sure your friend or loved one also receives the necessary diagnostic testes, treatments and rest needed to speed recovery. With this in mind, we ask all visitors to Mather Hospital to respect and follow these guidelines.

  • There is no smoking permitted anywhere inside the Hospital or in front of any Hospital entrance.

  • The use of cellular phones is prohibited inside the Hospital.

  • Latex balloons are not allowed inside the Hospital.

  • To prevent overcrowding and to allow all patients privacy and time to rest, visitors to any patient are limited to two (2) at a time, and all visits to Critical Care patients are limited to 15 minutes.

  • Visitors must leave when visiting hours are over. The Nursing Staff and our Security Staff will request that visitors leave if they are seen after the close of visiting hours. However, parents of pediatric patients are permitted and encouraged to remain with their child at all times.

  • Family members or companions wishing to remain with an adult or elderly patient must contact the Unit Nursing Coordinator or Evening/Night Administrator (Nursing Supervisor) to make the necessary arrangements.

  • If you need to visit a patient outside of the designated visiting hours, accommodations may be based on the patient's wishes and condition. Contact the Nursing Staff, Unit Nursing Coordinator or Evening/Night Administrator (Nursing Supervisor) for more information.

  • If you wish to bring food or beverages to a patient, you must check with the Nursing Staff to see if the patient is on a special or restricted diet.

  • Visitors are asked to refrain from eating in patient rooms so as not to disturb other patients.

  • Visitors must step out of a patient's room if asked by hospital staff so that care may be provided to the patient or other patient in the room.

  • If you are asked to temporarily leave a patient's room, please use the designated waiting areas or visit the Hospital Coffee Shop, which is open Monday - Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (closed holidays).

  • For their own safety and welfare, children under the age of 12 are not permitted to visit patients in the Medical Surgical Unit or the Critical Care Unit. However, special arrangements for child visitation to these units may be made speaking with the Unit Nursing Coordinator or Evening/Night Administrator (Nursing Supervisor).

  • In order for the Nursing Staff to provide the best care and be available to meet patient needs, we request that family members and friends limit the number of telephone calls to the nursing unit.

  • We encourage you to give the Nursing Staff a contact person to serve as a representative for the patient's family and friends. This person would be able to contact the Nursing Staff by telephone to ask questions and receive information on behalf of the family and friends of the patient. This contact person may only contact your nurse between 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

If you have any questions, concerns or special requests, please discuss them with the Nursing Staff so that we may assist you.

Thank you for your cooperation.
