The ICU is directly adjacent to the Operating Suite, which minimizes travel distance for patients needing intensive care immediately following their surgery. The centrally located nurses' station provides a 360 degree perspective.

This also provides two additional rooms for isolation, when staff and visitors must be protected from the patient, or reverse isolation, when the patient must be protected from contamination by the outside world.
