Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Provides:
An outpatient treatment intervention
designed to further stabilize acute
symptoms of mental illness.
An individualized treatment plan
coordinated with the client, family,
and referring physician or agency.
A supportive environment created by
a full-time professional staff
dedicated to maintaining and
enhancing the independent
functioning of each client.
A structured schedule individualized
to the specific treatment needs of
each client, ranging from a full-day
program, Monday through Friday, to
Intensive Outpatient. Duration of
treatment is from two to six weeks.
A schedule of groups designed to
improve coping skills, increase ability
to manage psychiatric symptoms,
improve understanding of mental and
emotional illness, and increase
knowledge of psychiatric medications.
Crisis coverage, 24 hours a day,
7 days a week, by a member of
the professional staff.

Continuum of Care
The Partial Hospitalization Program
is part of a continuum of services at John T. Mather
Memorial Hospital which includes: a 27 bed
inpatient adult psychiatric unit; an eating disorder
program and outpatient psychiatric services.
This continuum enables Mather Hospital to
provide the most appropriate level of care
indicated for each patient’s treatment.
Continuum of Mental Health Treatment

Who's Eligible A client may be eligible for Adult Partial
Hospitalization if he/she:
- Is an adult 18 years or older
- Has a primary psychiatric diagnosis with
acute symptoms
- Is agreeable to participating in the
program
- Is ambulatory and physically able
to participate
- Can maintain adequate impulse control in
order to effectively participate
- Currently resides in a safe, secure
supportive residence
- Is not a danger to him/herself
or others
A Supportive Ambulatory Setting
- Mon.-Fri. 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
- Capacity for 25 adults
- Coordinated transportation
- Accepts most insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare
