St. Charles Hospital and Rehabilitation Center and John T. Mather Memorial Hospital formed the Mather - St. Charles Health Alliance to enhance medical care to the communities they serve. Certain services formerly provided at both hospitals are now housed either at St. Charles or Mather, forming Centers of Excellence to better serve our patients.

By housing certain services in one location, both hospitals can reduce cost, which will allow more resources to be invested in innovative new programs to better serve the community.
The 10 hospitals of the Long Island Health Network joined together in 1998 to improve and standardize their clinical quality, enhance their operational efficiency, and expand access to care for all Long Islanders. Thanks to the efforts of thousands of employees at LIHN hospitals, more Long Islanders receive the highest level of evidence-based medical care, at a lower cost, than ever before.
